Short bio

My name is Pierre-Alexandre Poirier and I grew up in the small town of Châteauguay on the South shore of Montréal (Québec), Canada.

I studied industrial design at the School of Industrial Design of the Université de Montréal and completed my bachelors degree in May 2008 and I am currently studying interaction design at a masters level at the Umeå Institute of Design in Umeå, located in the North of Sweden.

Apart from a summer internship in a Milan design firm (Design Innovation), all of my professional design work has been done independently. I have mainly worked for the Université de Montréal and Umeå Institute of Design.

As you might have guessed by the reading of my name, I can speak and write in French (it’s my mother tongue) and the same goes for English.

About this site

This website is the 1.0 version of papoirier.org. Many kinks and graphical layout issues have to be addressed in the near future—but for now, let’s just say it works.

Apart from the hyperlinks on the Projects/Home page being highlighted by the following colors—interaction design, graphic design, product design, and web design—when one rolls-over them with her/his mouse, I don’t make any distinction between all the projects for the simple reason that the underlying process beneath them all in fundamentally the same. My intent was to simply display all of my (web-ready) projects on the same page but add a somewhat hidden layer of information.

I have added a Preview section to the site that showcases either ongoing or recently completed projects that are in the phase of being properly documented.

Hopefully some day I’ll find the time to translate the website in French. But until then, veuillez, mesdames et messieurs, excuser le non-emploi de ma langue maternelle sur mon site.
